"At NedWorks, team spirit is everything. Who wouldn't want that?"

Jannike Marien in

Meet Morgan, who has been a NedWorks Talent Scout for five months. Why did she choose NedWorks? What keeps her going? What does she like most about her job? Here’s a glimpse into Morgan's life as a NedWorker.

"At NedWorks, team spirit is everything. Who wouldn't want that?"

Please tell us about your position at NedWorks.

As a Talent Scout, my goal is to find the right match between a candidate and client; both on a personal and a professional level. For every project, I connect freelancers and employees on a daily basis. My responsibilities within NedWorks are very diverse, thus making every week unique. From writing and publishing vacancies, providing tips and tricks regarding resumes and applications, to scheduling and monitoring appointments with clients. In addition, I am gradually expanding my network both in terms of clients and candidates. In short, my enthusiasm as a Talent Scout can best be described as follows: "My job is to make people happy. And the people that I make happy make me happy! So, I was wondering…, what's your job?"

How long have you been working at NedWorks?

I have been employed at NedWorks for almost five months. And you know what? I haven't been bored for a day! For example, during the first few months I was completely immersed in Digital Marketing, where terms such as UX Designers, Product Owners and Social Advertising Specialist were thrown about. And when you think you finally know every job title in your portfolio, you bump into new job titles the next day... That is also why I am curious to see what else NedWorks has to offer me in the future.

"My job is to make people happy. And the people that I make happy, make me happy! So, I was wondering…, what's your job?"

What do you like most about your job as a NedWorks Talent Scout?

I love it when digital talents appreciate the quality of your work and also express this appreciation. That's what motivates you to keep going, while doing that little extra to get closer to perfection. This is in line with how we position ourselves as NedWorks: "We want to build a world where everyone can find the power to become the best version of themselves." The happiness of others also directly influences me as a person.

What's the secret to being a successful Talent Scout?

Despite my limited experience, I can quickly grasp and understand the needs of freelancers, by clearly imagining which projects they have enjoyed in the past, are enjoying in the present, and will enjoy in the future. In addition, an enthusiastic way of working and open sharing of feedback are greatly appreciated.

What convinced NedWorks to hire you as a Talent Scout?

NedWorks saw a good Talent Scout in me because I bring a good combination of rationality and social skills to the table. My volunteering with the Red Cross gave me more maturity and made me realize that everyone requires a custom way of communicating. That's how I learnt to adapt my communication depending on whom I'm talking to. A skill which very much comes in handy when you're a Talent Scout.

What convinced you to choose NedWorks?

My first day coincided with the company’s rebranding to NedWorks. After a few job interviews, I was convinced I wanted to help support a growth tailored towards the individual. The services provided by NedWorks consist of thinking together with the candidates about which job content or industry best suits them. My summer jobs as a student helped me realise it's essential for your mindset to do a job you enjoy doing. After all, you spend a lot of hours in the workplace. At NedWorks, team spirit is everything. Who wouldn't want that?

What evolution do you see for yourself at NedWorks?

Because I only have very limited experience working at NedWorks, I first want to grow further in my role as a Talent Scout. Making new contacts, formulating questions differently, writing out original candidate profiles and announcing the sales pitch spontaneously, are some of the skills that I certainly want to develop further. Once I have mastered my role as a Talent Scout, I see myself becoming a Business Manager. The speed of the process on the one hand and the relationship with and appreciation of freelancers on the other give me a lot of satisfaction.

What was the biggest highlight of the past months for you?

The best moment during my short career at Nedworks? That's an easy one. My first celebratory dance happened when Ine, our business manager, called me to say that I had a first starter. That feeling gives you an incredible boost to give the best version of yourself, vacancy after vacancy.

Where do you get energy from when you're not at work?

Spending time with my friends and weekly sports activities give me a real energy boost. Both intensive training sessions (Power Zumba, interval training on music...) and quiet evening walks with my dogs prepare me to head into the next day with a fresh and positive mindset.
